IIT Madras has introduced a new interdisciplinary dual degree in quantitative finance for its BTech students.

 IIT Madras has started a brand new Interdisciplinary Dual Degree program in Quantitative Finance. This program is a joint venture between the Management Studies, Computer Science and Engineering, and Mathematics departments and is only available to BTech dual degree students.

IIT Madras is offering an IDDD on Quantitative Finance course to undergraduates of all engineering branches. The course is open to current students beginning in the sixth semester, with a capacity of 25 students. The inaugural batch will start in January 2023.

University of Graduate students choosing this program must complete a six-month project with a business that utilizes the skills and methods taught in the fifth year of the course.

IITM noted the distinctive features of the program, remarking that it provides students with a combination of technology and finance which allows them to make a major impact on the digitalization of finance and banking.

The graduating students will have lucrative chances to work in Fintech businesses, financial go-betweens and portfolio management firms. Additionally, the course gives young entrepreneurs the opportunity to develop innovative products in the finance sector and encourages start-up business plans, the statement continued.

Prathap Haridoss, Dean (Academic Courses) at IIT Madras, noted the special qualities of the course, which is part of the five-year Interdisciplinary Dual Degree program of the institute.

As of December 2022, the Indian Institute of Technology Madras offers 12 interdisciplinary dual degrees in advanced areas like AI, machine learning, data science, robotics, and electric vehicles.
