The Department of Physics at the Indian Institute of Technology Jodhpur (IITJ) has announced a Bachelor of Science (BS) Physics Programme with four specialisations. The undergraduate programme, which was approved by the Senate on April 25, 2022, provides four specialisations: advanced energy materials, photonics, quantum technologies and entrepreneurship. This four-year programme will consist of 8-9 subjects per semester.
During the first year, students will gain a basic understanding of science and engineering; the second and third years will be dedicated to learning more complex theories and conducting experiments in advanced physics; and the fourth year will focus on a specific area of specialization.
In order to be considered for the BS Physics program at IITJ, a student must have completed their class 12 exams or equivalent in the science stream. Selections will be based on their JEE Advance score 2023. Moreover, at the end of the seventh semester, IITJ allows a BS student who has opted for a specialization with a minimum CGPA of 6.0 and has met the credit requirements to switch to the BS-MTech dual degree program for their eighth semester.
Candidates belonging to the unreserved and OBC category will have to pay a tuition fee of Rs 1,00,000 per semester, while SC, ST, and PwD students will not have to pay anything. All other students will be required to make semester fee payments, along with refundable deposits and advance toward dining charges.
