From September 30 to October 11, 2022, the National Games athletics, squash, softball, and triathlon competitions will be held at the Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IITGN). From September 30 to October 4, the institute will organize 45 sports competitions, including track, jumping, and throwing competitions. Additionally, a triathlon will be held from October 9 to 11, 2022, and softball games will be played from October 7 to 11.
At its new sports complex, IITGN will host a number of national and international players and athletes competing in the National Games in 2022. The complex has a gymnasium, badminton, squash, volleyball, basketball, cricket, athletics, climbing, table tennis, swimming, and other indoor and outdoor facilities.
“It is a wonderful honour for us to organise a prominent athletic event like the National Games at IITGN,” stated Amit Prashant, the IITGN’s officiating director. We can’t wait to have all the athletes and sports fans from across the nation visit the IITGN campus. The celebration of athletic prowess will be a true melting pot.
“The entire student body is delighted to witness the bustle of athletes, coaches, and management from September 30, as they arrive to compete in the 36th National Games,” stated Akhilesh Chauhan, Student Sports Secretary, IITGN. On the banks of the Sabarmati River, IIT Gandhinagar boasts a stunning campus with excellent sports facilities that meet the needs of aspiring athletes. With the opening of the recently built sports complex, the number of sporting opportunities is growing. This national-level competition will add colour to our sports complex and strengthen IIT Gandhinagar’s sporting tradition. The IIT Gandhinagar student body will participate in the National Games as volunteers and passionate spectators.
