IIT Bombay set up a committee for PwD students on campus, which was welcomed by the Ambedkar, Periyar, Phule study circle (APPSC). The student collective expressed the hope that the cell will make sure that the 5% reservation for PwD students and faculty is carried out moving forward.

The institute noted the presence of many students with disabilities on the IIT campus who were confronting numerous difficulties in their everyday lives and studies. A committee was set up with a one-year term for the student members and a three-year term for faculty members, with the potential to be extended if needed.

The PwD students cell committee has been tasked with the duty of formulating and keeping up-to-date regulations and policies applicable to both students and faculty in accordance with Indian Laws, paying particular attention to academic evaluation. The guidelines created by the members of the PwD cell must be accepted by the IIT Bombay director before they can be put into action.

The committee will be accountable for setting up orientation classes for both students and faculty, which will include virtual instruction for those who have been accepted and are preparing to physically attend IIT Bombay. They will also be responsible for the development of a website to provide assistance to PwD students, as well as instituting support systems such as mentorship and transport. Furthermore, the committee will be responsible for handling any grievances from students.
