IIM Bangalore has named Srivardhini K Jha as the chairperson of NSRCEL.

Srivardhini Jha was appointed as the chairperson of NSRCEL, an incubator for startups at IIM Bangalore, at the start of this month. Jha is a professor of Entrepreneurship at the same institute. Previously, she was part of the McGill Centre for the Convergence of Health and Economics as a researcher. She has a PhD in Corporate Strategy and Policy from IIM Bangalore, an MS in Management Science and Engineering from Stanford University and a BTech in Information Science and Engineering from Bangalore University.

Before becoming a part of the academic world, Srivardhini Jha had several high-level managerial roles at Microsoft, Sun Microsystems and Infosys, according to the institute. Currently, her research and teaching revolve around innovation and entrepreneurship, with a focus on the innovation strategies of multinational companies in developing countries, innovation in the Indian startup landscape, and social entrepreneurship.

IIM Bangalore reported that a number of her works have been featured in renowned international journals such as MIS Quarterly, MIT Sloan Management Review, Management International Review, and Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences, among others. Additionally, she co-authored a book entitled “Shifting Orbits: Decoding the Trajectory of the Indian Startup Ecosystem”, which was released in 2021.

Anand Sri Ganesh, COO of NSRCEL, expressed his delight at the appointment of Professor Srivardhini Jha as the new chairperson, noting that her research on Innovation and Entrepreneurship would only hasten the effects of the platform in bringing together corporate figures, investors, academics, and entrepreneurs.

Professor Jha expressed her enthusiasm for her new place at NSRCEL, noting that entrepreneurship will be a key factor in India’s efforts to become a US $5 trillion economy. She remarked that NSRCEL is well-suited to cultivate and support entrepreneurs and their businesses on a massive scale, and she hopes to see NSRCEL make a substantial positive effect on India’s entrepreneurial atmosphere during her tenure.
