Information for JEE Advanced 2023 foreign national candidates

The official website states that Overseas Citizen Of India (OCI) and Person of Indian Origin (PIO) card holders who are not Indian citizens and are applying for JEE Advanced 2023 examinations will be treated as foreign nationals. Individuals who have already attained 10+2 level or an equivalent in India or abroad at the time of registration for JEE Advanced 2023, do not have to take JEE Main 2023. Additionally, foreign national candidates will be included in the 2,50,000 Indian national candidates who qualify for JEE Advanced 2023, apart from them.

Eligibility criteria

In order to be eligible to take the JEE Advanced 2023 exam, applicants who have completed or are currently enrolled in 10+2 or equivalent in India or abroad must meet all four criteria without any reservation benefits.

  • Age Limit: Applying candidates for JEE Advanced candidates should have been born on or after October 1, 1998. In addition to this, candidate will be given a relaxation of the required number of years in countries where a minimum stint in the armed forces (or allied) for a certain period is mandatory before or after class 12 (or equivalent) examination.
  • Number of Attempts: A candidate can only attempt the JEE advanced examination for a maximum of two times in consecutive years.
  • Class 12 exams: A candidate should have appeared for the class 12 (or equivalent) examination for the first time in either 2022 or 2023 with the subjects- physics, chemistry, and mathematics as compulsory subjects.
  • Previous admission in IITs: A candidate should not have been admitted to an IIT irrespective of whether or not the candidate continued in the program or accepted a seat at an IIT by reporting online in the past. The candidates who were qualified JoSAA 2022 and were allocated a seat in an IIT but did not report online, withdrew admission before the last round of seat allotment or had their seat cancelled before the last round of seat allotment are eligible to appear for JEE Advanced 2023.
  • Academic eligibility: The candidate is required to have secured at least 75% aggregate marks in the class 12 (or equivalent) board examination and within the top 20 percentile of successful candidates in their respective board examination.
