According to Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, nearly 700 districts in the nation will participate in FIFA’s “Football for Schools” program. The nodal organization for its implementation will be the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti. With the help of UNESCO and FIFA, Football for Schools (F4S) intends to benefit the education, growth, and empowerment of about 700 million young people worldwide. Integrating football-related activities into the educational system in collaboration with authorities and stakeholders, it aims to increase access to football for both boys and girls around the world.
Prior to the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, Pradhan made the announcement during a meeting with FIFA Secretary General Fatma Samoura. “The (National Education Policy) NEP-2020 is upheld by the Football for Schools programme, which also encourages sports-integrated learning. It would strengthen India’s sports culture and aid in the skill development of our youngsters “Added he. The minister said, “Government is committed to promoting sports and creating a broad movement for football, especially among schoolchildren.
According to ministry sources, Samoura and Pradhan decided to expand the “Football for Schools” programme to all districts across India due to the vast number of schools in the nation.
