This academic year, Delhi University has admitted 520 foreign students to its undergraduate, graduate, and PhD programs, a decrease of more than 27.5% from the previous year. Nepal had the most students this year (110), followed by Tibet (100) and Bangladesh (100). (85).

A university representative blamed the delayed start of the academic session for the decrease in the number of foreign student admissions. As opposed to 663 students in 2021, 520 foreign students were admitted to the institution in 2022. Additionally, there have been almost 28% fewer applications from foreign nationals this year. “More than 7,000 applicants submitted applications to the university this year. The varsity received over 9,000 applications last year, “According to Jt Dean for International Relations Professor Amarjiva Lochan, PTI.

Nepal has submitted the most applications so far this year. It came from Afghan nationals the previous year. The application period began in March and ended in the middle of July. “For entrance, up to 1,500 pupils were chosen. Only 520 of them have confirmed their admission and arrival in Delhi. In DU colleges, 320 students have applied for admission to UG degrees, and 100 and 50 students, respectively, have applied for admission to PG and PhD courses “added Lochan.

According to the official, B.Com (Hons), English (Hons), BA Psychology, and BA Computer science had the most applications. In two categories, self-financing students and students with the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), Government of India, under its different scholarship programmes, foreign nationals are admitted to various programmes of study at the University of Delhi. Foreign nationals seeking admission to any programme, including undergraduate, graduate, M.Phil., and PhD programmes, are not required to take the entrance exam.

A merit list is used to base the admissions process. Application, varsity evaluation, online admission formalities, and formalities once in Delhi make up the four main parts of the “Application to Admission” process. “We have adhered to the tried-and-true procedure. Only their grades have been used to determine admittance. There is a list of accomplishments “stated Lochan. All applicants were given the opportunity to identify their top colleges this year by the institution. “Only the top 30 students may previously list their colleges. This year, we gave every student the chance to share their preferred institutions with us “He continued by saying that North Campus colleges are the most popular with international students.

Students choose North Campus colleges since the majority of them have hostels and the majority of their subjects are taught in English, according to Lochan. When questioned about the cause of the reduction in the number of applications from foreign nationals, Lochan responded, “This year’s academic year has been delayed for a number of reasons. We have received fewer applications as a result.”
