Those who have received an email or SMS notification from the NLU Consortium concerning the CLAT counselling can sign up online by logging into their individual account. To complete the CLAT enrolment, general category applicants need to pay a registration fee of Rs. 30,000. Candidates belonging to the ST/ SC/ OBC/ BC/ EWS/ PWD groups must pay a registration fee of Rs. 20,000.
The registration and counselling fee must be completed in order to be eligible for the seat allotment. Those who do not get a seat in the initial round have the possibility to be assigned one in later rounds if any vacancies become available for their category. The primary round of seat allotment will be proclaimed on January 18, 2023 and admission for that round will conclude on January 22, 2023.
Candidates who have been allotted seats at any NLU will have three options as mentioned below;
If the applicant is content with the seat they have been given and do not want to take part in any additional seat selection rounds, they can lock in the seat allocation. These applicants are then required to submit the confirmation fee within the designated timeframe.
If a prospective student did not get their first choice National Law University (NLU) and wants to try again in the next round to get a higher priority, they can select the ‘Float’ option. The applicant must compensate the confirmation fee according to the counselling timetable. This allows the candidate to keep the given seat and if they get a better NLU, they will be shifted to the newly provided NLU.
If the applicants are not pleased with their assigned seat and do not want to continue with the admissions process, they can opt to ‘Quit’ the admission counselling.
Applicants need to be aware that if they have previously opted for a “Float” or “Freeze” alternative before selecting the “Exit” option, the seat allocated to them will be reassigned and the confirmation fee will be forfeited. These individuals will not be eligible for admission in any stage of the counselling procedure for the national law entry exam, CLAT 2023, which was conducted on December 18, 2022 in 127 test centres across India and the results were declared on December 24, 2022.
