Chhattisgarh minister urges Centre to accommodate Ukraine returnee students in medical colleges.

T S Singh Deo, the health minister for Chhattisgarh, has once more asked the Center to permit students who have returned from a nation that is at war with Ukraine to enrol in medical schools there after passing a test, an official said on Wednesday. Singh Deo voiced concern for the future of these students in a letter to Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya. The official noted that he had written a similar letter in March of this year.
According to Singh Deo’s letter from Tuesday, 207 medical students from Chhattisgarh were forced to stop their studies midway and return to India as a result of the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

Sing Deo wrote to you, pleading with you to act right away regarding the future and continued study of these medical students from various states, especially Chhattisgarh, who returned to the nation in huge numbers. Additionally, he sent the Union health minister a letter that was authored by the Chhattisgarh Ukraine Medical Parents and Student Association.

The letter stated that 207 pupils and their parents expressed worry about their academic future once they returned to India. Early policy decisions on this delicate subject have been advised by Singh Deo. He has asked Mandaviya to allocate and adjust additional seats in the nation’s medical colleges depending on the study periods of all the affected students in order to safeguard and assure these kids’ futures. According to Singh Deo, “this would also end the nation’s doctor scarcity and the general population will profit from medical services.”
