The Banaras Hindu University (BHU) has introduced a new programme that grants PhD students a six-month external research experience. The program will give BHU PhD scholars the chance to do research for one semester (six months) at a reputable Indian university or research facility. Students can also take advantage of this opportunity to develop their theoretical, practical, or experimental skills.

The programme will expose students to a diverse, multicultural, and competitive research environment, which will help them succeed academically and professionally. According to a Banaras Hindu University official statement, the programme will help BHU develop partnerships with other prestigious schools. In addition to their regular fellowship, the visiting research researcher will also get a monthly maintenance stipend of Rs 15,000 as part of the programme. Research scholars who have finished their coursework, have quality publications to their credit, and have incredibly high academic records at the undergraduate and graduate levels will be eligible to apply for the programme.

Professor Sudhir Kumar Jain, the vice-chancellor, stated: “We want our PhD students to conduct excellent research for their thesis and prepare themselves for hard assignments ahead. Through this programme, they will be able to conduct research in a diverse, multicultural setting and earn beneficial experience. One of our primary aims is to provide new doors and possibilities for students and scholars, and the programme reflects this dedication, said Professor Jain. The Sponsored Research Industrial Consultancy Cell (SRICC), under the direction of Professor D S Pandey, is in charge of managing the programme, which is being implemented as a component of the Institution of Eminence, BHU.
