The Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IITGN) is now accepting applications for its master’s degree programmes in cognitive science and society and culture for the upcoming academic year. The application deadline is January 25th, 2023, and interested candidates can apply via admissions.iitgn.ac.in. The MSc in cognitive science and MA in society and culture are designed to provide students with interdisciplinary skills. Any student who holds a bachelor’s degree can apply for these courses.
Those studying for an MSc in Cognitive Science will have numerous career prospects, such as UX Designer, Linguistic Analyst, Data Analyst, Product Developer, Designer, AI Engineer, Cognitive Rehabilitation, Robotics, and Consumer Behavior. There will also be opportunities for Academic roles such as teaching or researching Human-Computer Interface, Neuroscience, Decision Making, and International PhDs.
Upon finishing their Master’s degree in Society and Culture, students may pursue careers in NGOs, policy think tanks, journalism, advertising, media, communications, writing, human resources, teaching, research in ecological sciences, and public policy, among other options.
IIT Gandhinagar’s ITGN programmes offer students the chance to gain research experience in the latest topics of cognitive science, including perception, motor learning, robotics, consumer behavior and music cognition, among others. Learners may also take part in fieldwork, ethnographic research and visit historical and archaeological locations in Gujarat. Additionally, they can benefit from the IIT Gandhinagar explorer fellowships and national and international internships.
Jaison A Manjaly, Head of Discipline of Humanities and Sciences at IIT Gandhinagar, highlighted the distinct qualities of the two courses offered. He remarked that the potential of interdisciplinary knowledge and skills is great in our times, allowing us to think of new solutions. IITGN has structured the courses to be flexible and interdisciplinary, giving students a broadened learning experience. The MA in Society and Culture helps students comprehend the connections between areas of knowledge, while the MSc in Cognitive Science provides a deep comprehension of the brain, mind and cognitive behaviour.
