On Monday, protesters from the RSS-affiliated Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) demonstrated against the Common University Entrance Test’s (CUET) rescheduling outside the National Testing Agency’s (NTA) office (CUET). The CUET, which was cancelled last week, will now be held from August 24 to August 28, and new admit cards will be issued, according to the National Testing Agency.
Glitches in the second round of the CUET-Undergraduate, which started last Thursday, caused problems for students who were turned back from exam centres. The exam’s first shift was cancelled in a number of locations throughout 17 states, while the second shift was cancelled at all 489 locations. At 50 locations, the exam was cancelled on Friday. The agency postponed the CUET-UG for the day at 53 centres on Friday night in anticipation of a situation such as the one that occurred on Saturday.
Numerous ABVP activists congregated outside the NTA office on Monday to protest the situation. The Delhi Police, according to the ABVP, detained numerous of its members during the rally. There was no quick police response available. The CUET exam has been taking place for a few days, and the applicants have been having a lot of trouble because of technical difficulties and incorrect centre assignments, according to a statement from the ABVP.
Later that day, ABVP activists met with an NTA team and brought up the issues that students were having with the exam. They also sought the announcement of the dates for other exams, including the UGC NET. The NTA, according to the ABVP, has guaranteed them that all technical and non-technical issues would be handled as soon as possible and that the dates of examinations like the JNUET, DUET, and NET that have been delayed will be released as soon as possible.
