An official from IIT Kharagpur reported on Saturday that the authorities found a third-year student’s partially decomposed body after forcing open the locked door. A week had passed since the first IIT student fatality.

On October 10, the body of a 20-year-old IIT Guwahati fifth-year BTech student who had committed suicide was discovered hanging in his room. The putrefying body of Fainaz Ahmed was discovered after his dormitory room door was forcibly opened on Friday because he had not been in contact for hours, according to IIT Kharagpur registrar Tamal Nath, who spoke to PTI. Another IIT Kharagpur official stated there was no evidence of foul play as of yet, and investigators are investigating what led to the death of the 23-year-old student. Fainaz, a mechanical engineering third-year student, was last seen on October 13, according to his acquaintances. He was an Assamese native from the Tinsukia region.

He had a brilliant academic record and had performed well in exams, Nath said. His parents alleged that he was killed and demanded a full-fledged inquiry by police into the incident.

“Our cheerful son, who was at the family function, is unable to harm himself. He was killed. We want that an appropriate investigation into the circumstances of his death and how he passed away to be conducted, “According to his mother, a Bengali TV station. The registrar declared: “We have no idea why that occurred in the first place. He was an elderly man who had just attended a family event that brought him back from his home “. According to Nath, the institute has a number of qualified staff members and representatives from two NGOs who may offer to counsel anyone who needs it.

“For the past two years due to COVID-19 curbs and lockdown, we have given more stress on counselling to students to address any crisis if we get the slightest hint of any symptom,” he added.
