According to authorities, a 19-year-old college student was detained for reportedly blackmailing and abusing a class 11 pupil at a reputable private school in the city. At Women’s Police Station-West, the incident was reported under several IPC and POCSO Act provisions. The father of the 16-year-old victim alleged in his complaint that his daughter had just become friends with an older student at her school. After graduating from high school, the accused went to college but kept in touch with the girl, he claimed, and eventually began following her.
“As my daughter informed me, the accused downloaded a nude photo of my daughter via WhatsApp during a conversation. He then began using this picture as a form of blackmail to force her into calling and meeting him. According to police, the complaint stated that the accused “met her, sexually attacked her, and when my daughter resisted his advances, the accused beat her up.” An FIR was filed against the accused as a result of the complaint under sections 323 (causing hurt), 354-D (stalking), 506 (criminal intimidation), and Section 6 of the POCSO Act. Inspector Poonam, SHO, Women Police Station, stated, “We have captured the culprit and are questioning him” (West).
