What is the full form of the UGC?

The entire form is University Grants Commission (UGC) is a government agency that administers grants to universities. It is an activity of the Indian Union Government in line with the UGC Act 1956. Associated with the Ministry of Higher Education and under the Ministry of Human Resources Development.

The committee’s job is to organise, analyse, and maintain the highest possible educational standards across the country. It acknowledges and disburses funds to schools and universities that it has approved. The Commission has regional headquarters in Hyderabad, Bangalore, Kolkata, Guwahati, Bhopal, Pune, and Bhopal, as well as its headquarters in New Delhi.

UGC: A Quick Overview

• The Commission was founded in 1945 to oversee and manage the operations of three important Indian universities: Delhi, Banaras, and Aligarh. These responsibilities were extended to all Indian universities in 1947.
