What is the full form of IC?

IC Full Form: Integrated Circuit is the full form of IC. It’s a small electronic device made of semiconductor material that contains many microscopic components like diodes and transistors. Capacitors and resistors are two types of capacitors. All of these components are connected on a thin sheet of semiconductors and put together as a single unit, usually silicone.

ICs are found in a variety of devices, including televisions, microprocessors, automobiles, audio and video equipment, and mobile devices, and are commonly referred to as microchips or chips. Its main purpose was to place as many transistors on a semiconductor chip as possible.

Integrated circuits (ICs) come in a variety of shapes and sizes.

In 1958, Jack Kilby created the first integrated circuit, or microchip. ICs have undergone many centuries of innovation, and as a result of these repeated developments, ICs now include more transistors and other electronic components, and they can be classified as, as previously stated.

  • SSI (Small Scale Integration) – 1 to 100 transistors for every single IC or cube.
  • MSI (Medium Scale Integration) – 1000 to several hundred thousand transistors for every single IC or cube.
  • VLSI (Very Large Scale Integration) – 100 thousand to 1 million transistors for every single IC or cube.
  • ULSI (Ultra Large Scale Integration) – IC, including transistors of millions or billions every chip. E.g. processor for computers.

ICs are also classified as Analog IC, Digital IC or a blend of both.

Benefits of IC

  • In comparison to a discrete circuit, the IC is quite small.
  • When compared to complete discrete circuits, the weight of an IC is extremely low.
  • It has a high level of dependability.
  • Despite its smaller size, it consumes less energy.
  • If there is a problem, it can easily be replaced, but it is difficult to repair.
  • Temperature differences between circuit elements are minimal.
  • It’s best for low-level signal operation.

Limitations of IC

  • It can only handle a limited quantity of electricity.
  • P-N – P High-Grade chamber is not possible.
  • It is strenuous to obtain the low-temperature coefficient effectively.
  • Potency dissipation is limited to 10 watts.
  • Low noise and high voltage operation aren’t easily attained.
