WBJEE Exam Pattern 2023 and the official notification will be released by the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEEB). All the appearing candidates for WBJEE 2023 must understand the WBJEE Exam Pattern 2023 carefully before they start the entrance exam preparation. According to the WBJEE 2023 Exam Pattern, the exam comprises three sections: Physics, Mathematics, and Chemistry. WBJEE 2023 Exam Pattern

The WBJEE exam pattern’s latest version along with the official notification will be declared by the official authorities. The exam pattern comprises important information such as like exam mode, medium of the exam. question type and many other details will be available in the WBJEE official notification. 

There will be three sections in the WBJEE 2023 exam such as Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics. There will be objective type WBJEE question paper be asked in the exam that means the applicants need to answer the multiple-choice type questions also termed as MCQs. WBJEE exam will contain two papers; Paper-I covers the subject Mathematics and Paper-II cover both Physics and Chemistry subject. There will be the availability of 40 questions each for Physics and Chemistry. The total number of questions asked in Mathematics is 75. The maximum mark in the WBJEE exam is 200 marks. Candidates must note that there will be negative marking for the wrong answer depending on each category.

  • Exam Mode: The exam will be held in the offline mode in the OMR pattern.
  • Questions Type: The question paper will have multiple-choice questions (MCQ) and there will be four options allotted for each question
  • Duration: The total duration of the exam will be the total of two hours for each paper.
  • Answering Mode: The applicants need to use a ballpoint pen (black or blue) to select the response.
  • Subjects: The Questions will cover subjects such as physics, mathematics, and chemistry subjects.
  • Shift: The exam will be held in two shifts such that Paper 1 (Mathematics) from11:00 AM to 1:00 PM and Paper 2 (Physics & Chemistry) from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
  • Marking Scheme: Category 1 – 1 marks will be given to the applicants for each correct response and Category 2 – Two marks will be given to the applicants for every correct answer

WBJEE Exam Pattern 2023 Subject-Wise Question Distribution

The incorrect answers will be allotted category-wise negative marking and the category-wise marks will be allotted for every right answer according to the WBJEE 2023 exam pattern. The WBJEE marking scheme contains three categories:

  • 1 mark will be allotted to the Category 1 questions and will have only one right response.
  • 2 marks will be allotted to the Category 2 questions and will have only one right response.
  • 2 marks will be allotted to the Category 3 questions and will have more than one right option.

WBJEE Marking Scheme

The marking scheme explains the distribution of marks on the total number of questions available in the exam question paper. There are three section or categories in the WBJEE exam that Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics discussed in the following point:

Category 1

  • One response is considered correct
  • 1 mark will be given to the candidates for every right response
  • There will be a negative marking of -¼ (25%) marks for incorrect response
  • There will be a negative marking of -¼ (25%) marks if more than one option is marked as a response then the answer will be treated incorrectly.
  • 0 marks will be allotted for the unattempted questions.

Category 2 

  • One response is considered correct
  • 2 mark will be allotted for every right response
  • There will be a negative marking of 0.5 marks for incorrect response
  • There will be a negative marking of o.5 marks if more than one option is marked as a response then the answer will be treated incorrectly.
  • 0 marks will be allotted for the unattempted questions.

Category 3 

  • One or more response may be considered correct
  • 2 mark will be allotted for all the right responses
  • If the response marked has both correct and wrong answer combinations, it will be treated as a wrong answer and 0 marks will be allotted for the same.
  • If the response is partially correct, then the allotment of marks will be done like 2 X (no. of right options marked + total no. of right options)
  • 0 marks will be allotted for the unattempted questions.

WBJEE 2023 Exam Pattern Important Instructions

  • West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board who is the conducting body of the exam prepares the WBJEE 2023 exam pattern.
  • The Questions will cover subjects such as physics, mathematics, and chemistry subjects.
  • The applicants who want to take admission into the Pharmacy courses need to appear for Physics, Biology, and Chemistry papers.
  • The entrance exam will be held in three languages such that Bengali, English, and Hindi.
  • The applicants need to appear for both Paper 1 and Paper 2 if they are willing to admission to courses such as Architecture/ Engineering/Technology.
  • The applicants need to appear for both Paper 1 and Paper 2 if they are willing to admission into the Pharmacy Course of the Jadavpur University.
  • There will be four options allotted for every question and the applicants need to choose the right one.
  • Once the candidates select the answer on the response sheet then the answer cannot be changed or altered.
  • The applicants can use a ballpoint pen (black or blue) in the entrance exam.
  • 20 minutes of extra time will be allotted to the applicants belonging to the PwD category.
  • The applicants who are visually challenged will have the option to take the assistance of a writer/scribe having less qualification than the applicants.
