Why is Equating Methodology used?
To adjust the scores of every session of the VITEEE 2024 that is held in different slots and days, the equating methodology is adopted by the VIT University. On the basis of the several factors affecting the performance of the candidates, the University aims to balance the candidate’s scores.
- Equating refers to the statistical process of determining and adjusting the scores on forms of the exam (that are approximately equivalent) so that usage of the scores on the forms can be done interchangeably.
- In order to provide a fair and accurate comparison between the merit list and the rank card of the candidates, the university adopts equating process for the adjustment in the scores of aspirants.
- The VIT uses the statistical method of Equipercentile Equating to find out the percentile ranks of the candidates. Candidates must know that the test scores on different forms with the same percentile rank are considered equivalent.
- The position of the Percentile Rank of the test taker is unique and invariant in the group.
- In the statistics, the 90 Percentile Rank refers to the 90 percent of test-takers who have scored below the test score level and 10 percent have scored above it.
- On the basis of the personal estimate of the raw score, No candidates should assume and predict their score or rank.
- Candidates must be aware of the fact that the revaluation of the answers is not allowed. Proper care and importance are given to the evaluation process because it is a CBT exam.
