CENTAC 2024 Cut-Off

For each course, the Cut-Off of CENTAC 2024 will be published separately. It will be available online and published on its official website. For admission to the various participating institutes/colleges in Puducherry, applicants must meet the minimum cut-off. The authority will set a cut-off based on the 12th grade. It will be determined by the number of candidates who fill the form, the availability of seats, and the previous year’s cut-off.

Factors Effecting CENTAC Cut Off

The following factors of Cut Off marks are listed below for applicants’ reference, and with this information, applicants will be able to understand how Cut Off marks are calculated.

  • The number of applied applicants or no. of application received. For example, if the Civil engineering stream has more applications than that of Mechanical engineering then the cutoff for the former is likely to be higher than the later.
  • Applicants will also be chosen based on the availability of seats in various colleges for various courses.
  • The merit list will be created based on the applicants’ obtained marks.

CENTAC Normalisation Procedure 2024

The “normalization procedure” is used to develop a common base for balancing the marks secured by applicants from various Examination’s Boards. By using the normalization method, the marks scored by applicants in related subjects in the qualifying exams administered by various boards will be balanced with the marks scored by applicants in the same subjects in the qualifying exams administrated by the Board of State (i.e. State Board of School Exams, Tamil Nadu).

For Example: If an applicant scored the highest mark in Physics from the State Board is 100, and another applicant scored the highest mark in the same subject from another Board (say “X”) is 90. Then highest marks in both the boards will be considered equal to 100. If some other student from another Board (i.e. say “X”) is 90, then 60 marks scored by that student will be equal as 66.667 marks as calculated below:

(100 x 60) / 90 =66.667 %.

The “normalized marks” obtained after normalization of the secured marks of qualified applicants from various Boards in relevant subjects shall be merged into a common list of merit.
