Banaras University now does not conduct any Pre-Medical Test commonly known as the BHU PMT but the admission is rather based on NEET examination, in order to shortlist individuals into its medical courses.
BHU commonly known as the Banaras Hindu University is one of India’s best universities and was founded in the year 1916 via Pandit Madan Mohan Malavya with the cooperation of great personalities like Dr Annie Besant.
BHU is considered among the most famous universities in India in which every year many numbers of applicants got admission.

The BHU MBBS/BDS application form will be released in the second week of June by Medical Counselling Committee (MCC). The candidates will have to score the minimum qualifying marks in their National Eligibility cum Entrance Test – NEET medical entrance exam to be eligible to fill out the application form for BHU MBBS.

BHU PMT Eligibility Criteria
Before registration for the BHU MBBS admission, it is very important for all the candidates to know the eligibility criteria to apply for admission to the medical programme.
Here we have provided all the important criteria required for the BHU MBBS admission:
The eligibility criteria for BHU MBBS admission are very similar to that of the NEET examination, as provided by the National Testing Agency.

Criteria for J&K | Candidates from Jammu and Kashmir can also register for medical and dental admissions in the BHU. |
Educational Qualification | For General Category: The candidate should have passed Class 12 or equivalent examination with a total of 50% in Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology and English individually.
For SC/ST/OBC: Candidates must secure at least 40% in all the subjects. |
NEET | The candidates must secure at least the minimum cutoff of NEET UG , provided in the next section. |

BHU PMT Application Form
The registration process for BHU MBBS/BDS will start in the second week of April. The candidates who have participated in the NEET UG exam will be able to register for BHU MBBS/BDS (Previously known as PMT) admission.
The mode for the application form will be online mode. Candidates can register themselves by submitting the NEET UG roll number (As provided in their NEET admit card).
While registering for the candidate must provide all of their personal, academic, communication and other asked information similar to their NEET UG application form.
After the registration, the candidate will receive a confirmation mail informing them of the completion of the registration.
The applicants can provide their preferences of colleges as well as courses once they have registered for the BHU MBBS admission.
BHU PMT Merit List
- The merit list/seat allotment list for BHU MBBS/BDS (previously known as BHU PMT) will be released for each round, separately.
- The merit list of BHU MBBS will provide information regarding the allotted college.
- The merit list will be announced on the university’s official website.
- The candidates included in the merit list of BHU MBBS/BDS will be called for counselling.
- BHU MBBS merit list consists of NEET All India Rank, allotted institute, course, allotted quota and candidate’s category.
BHU PMT Counselling
The counselling of BHU MBBS will be conducted by MCC through online mode. The BHU MBBS counselling will consist of three rounds also including a mop-up round.
Only the applicants listed in the merit list and also successfully qualifying for the NEET MBBS UG exam will be allowed to participate for the counselling process.
During the counselling procedure, the candidate will have to log in and enter the choices of colleges and courses, in which they wish to get admission.
As per the choices filled, NEET UG rank, availability of seats, reservation criteria and other factors, the BHU MBBS/BDS seat allotment process will be conducted.
The first round of counselling will be conducted tentatively in the third week of June. After the result of the first round will be released, the applicant with the allotted seat must report to the college for document verification and completion of the admission process.
After the first round is over, the MCC will conduct a second round of BHU MBBS counselling in the second week of July to fill the remaining vacant seats left. In case, after the first and second rounds of seat allotment, if there will be any seats left, then the authority will conduct the mop-up round for BHU MBBS counselling.
