Depression and anxiety are the two most common phenomenon in today’s generation. With the wild stress of studies over their shoulders, many students fail to cope up with the depression level.
Depression is underrated. Many parents fail to understand their children.
Often, they think that they are just looking for some excuses to ignore their studies and that is the main reason they don’t believe their children, they don’t listen to them.
Overcoming depression is not easy and when your own parents are not ready to support you, it’s even more difficult.
But there are a number of ways you can cope with depression on your own. You just need to follow these steps carefully every day.

1. Start Yoga or Exercise
Okay, so let’s start with your physical body first. Your health affects your body so much. What you are outside, is what you are made from inside. Taking care of your body is a way to tell yourself that you care.
Dedicate 30 to 40 minutes every day in the morning to yoga or exercise. You can do both.
Exercise makes you fit while yoga makes you both fit and calm. So if not exercise, you can consider doing yoga. But doing it properly is also important.
Buy a yoga mat! Yoga mats are specially designed for doing yoga.
It helps you adjust your body and even protects your knees and elbows from any harm.
There are a number of benefits of using a yoga mat than any other simple mat. So try only using a yoga mat while doing yoga.
2. Eat Healthily
Like I said before, taking your health seriously is a way of telling yourself that you care. Eating habits affects your body the most, from both inside and outside.
If you are too much of a junk food eater, stop that now. Junk foods do the most harm to your body.
Eating the right food at the right interval of time is important. Eat carbohydrate rich food. Always backup your diet with oats and do not eat fried food.
Eat the maximum amount of food in breakfast and the minimum amount of food at night. Do not eat too much at a time. Take regular intervals in eating a meal. Drink a lot of water, at least 3 to 4 litre per day.

3. Believe in Yourself
Believing in yourself is one of the hardest things to do.
Whenever we fail to do something, everyone is there to criticize but when we do something good, no one steps forward to appreciate that. That’s the truth. So stop expecting. The more you expect more you fell hurt.
When you do something good, know it yourself. If you helped that old women to cross the road, if you fed that hungry stray dog, if you keep others’ secrets or anything, no matter how small it is, if you know it’s good, feel good. Appreciate yourself.
Start talking to yourself! When you have no one to talk to, you have yourself.
After all, it is you who has been suffering from this long, fighting against everyone to stay the strongest you can. So motivate yourself.
Talk yourself when you’re alone and talk about the good things and good memories and think of those things you’ve always loved.
4. Consult a Therapist
First of all, consulting or visiting a therapist does not mean that you are crazy. Ignore the myths!
Therapists are trained people who know how to handle someone’s mental blow.
They will not judge you and will not consider you as a loser.
Go and talk to them.
If you do not wish to physically meet them, you can also look for therapists who are available for services online.
5. Manage your Studies Properly
All of the physical and mental aspects have been discussed, let’s talk about your studies now. If you burden yourself with lot of studies, you are forcing yourself to feel depressed.
JEE Main exam is not something that requires a student to be brilliant. All you have to do is dedicate a year.
If you want the best preparation, you have to give it proper time. Make study time table. Refer the best books.
Give each subject and topic the required time. If you are weak at a concept, don’t ignore it. Save it for later and ask your teacher to help you.
Add breaks in between your time table and keep doing the things you love. Play football, write your feelings down, watch a video, draw something etc. Do anything that makes you calm and happy.
This will ensure you will never feel bored and tired of your studies.
Go through the JEE Main syllabus and exam pattern carefully. Prepare yourself according to it. Download previous year question papers and solve them. Solve them in the given time and revise at the end.
Try solving your mistakes and write them a few more times.
Make notes in your own language and use sentences or any of your past memory to remember it for longer. Make different formula notebook and revise them everyday before start studying.
Take the online mock test and always have your doubts cleared. Stay updated to the notices on the official website of IIT. Consider the right study material and never hesitate to ask.
